Italian Countryside in Our Own Backyard
Italian Countryside in Our Own Backyard
By: Lalu
With a parking lot of exotic cars and a dining room of famous customers (such as Mayor Bloomberg, Tom Cruise, Giada De Laurentiis, Martha Stewart just to name a few) you may be surprised to know that this upscale and ornate restaurant is located in the sleepy town of Tottenville, the southern part of Staten Island.
The exterior décor is inspired by an Italian villa and with the first step inside you are instantly transported to "Dolce Vita". You can expect to be greeted by waiters in tailored suits who bring you to a candlelit table with fresh flowers. In the dining room, you will hear bits and pieces of Italian against the soft music. You may sit down by the window or go outside to the cabanas to have a glass of wine and admire the sunset against the sound of the ocean. The property is manicured with bright flowers and you might smell fresh basil and fig trees that are growing in the front.
Owner and creator Angelina modeled her restaurant after her Sicilian hometown, and and has successfully brought European character to her award winning food . When choosing an entree, Executive Chef says their seafood is a must. “Being on the water is an inspiration of the fish”, says executive chef Marco. We recommend Zuppa di Seafood which is an angler’s heaven: complete with shrimp lobster tails, clams, shrimp, and calamari. But leave room for desert. Their homemade creations may be the best thing on their menu. Unique desserts such as fried banana and cheesecake invention is to be tasted.
Check their website for weekly events including Wednesday night psychic readings, and Thursday night Societa.
Note to our urbanites- Easily accessible by train. Take South Ferry to SIR and SIR to Tottenville Station.
